Roof brackets vary in design and are key elements in identifying the bungalow style. In cases where a bungalow has an extremely low-pitched roof, or for aesthetic reasons, an outrigger may be used to support the barge rafters. Outriggers generally are window headers that run from inside of the house and cantilever outside to support the barge rafter.
