The building process is the same no matter whether you invest in stock,
modified, or custom plans...
Plan Review. Verify with your building official that
your plan design criteria will work in your region. If it does not, then
modifications will be required by a local designer, engineer, or architect.
We always recommend that a design professional review plans for a specific
site, and coordinate the structural, heating, cooling, and ventilation
systems for the home.
Site Planning. Properly locating your new home on a
building site usually requires the help of a seasoned professional.
Prior to purchasing a home plan, a preliminary site plan should be
created from a survey identifying property line dimensions, property
easements, topography, and the location of all utilities. If the
site is undeveloped land, then the well and onsite septic location
must be identified on the plan.
